Just hold tight a few more months and you will get that honourable mention you deserve. I just do not see why the sexes are hijacking each others celebratory days. Special mention however is given to the many childless women who shower children with loads of motherly love. Let us celebrate them along with the Mother's today. Stay Blessed x

2013 Blessings

Many Blessings for 2013. I have towards the end of 2012 not updated my blog like I wanted to. I aim to change that. I will also aim to integrate my youtube channel more with my blogs too. I welcome post suggestions and challenges etc.

I hope and pray that 2013 brings you lots of blessings not just because its a new year but because God is real and He can get you there. 

Is Summer Really Here?

In the UK for the last week the sun has been oh so hot. I am so loving it. The weather in the UK can be so unpredictable so I am enjoying it while I can. I bought 2 maxi dresses from Primark just to celebrate. Though because of my height 5ft 1", I have to wear a belt to pull the dress up off the floor and also to give shape as my bosom is ample and these dresses turn into curtains on me. 

People seem so much happier when the weather is like this 25C being the top temperature so far where I live. I know other areas have hit 28C. Yes please Lord, more sunshine like this. Especially as my sons school fayre is over a month away and last year thunder and lightening ruined such a fun day. I have a task at hand now. To find clothes for my oldest son who is so slim he has to wear a belt of adjustable waist. I bought some cotton shorts only to find the drawstring was an accessory an served no purpose. All labels popped off so I cant even take it back grrrr.

As for me I hoping to break out of my shell this year. Since my weight gain which I have yet to conquer I have played it somewhat safe. Though I am now starting to venture into colours and styles I would usually avoid. My friends seem happy about this. Curvy fashion bloggers like Gabi Fresh I find so inspiring when it comes to clothes. I used to be as toned as her but smaller in size but two kids later and a less active lifestyle now I have rolls (bb sad face). However it is nothing a spare of spanx or some lesser known brand cant solve. I will I will conquer my weight. I just won't give up. In the meantime no need to look frumpy.

All I need now is a decent pair of sandals that I can drive in and I am good to go. I hope you all are enjoying the summer weather wherever you are. Have a blessed week!

Happy New Year 2012

Wishing you all a blessed and prosperous 2012. 2011 has been a bit of an uphill struggle and blessing rolled into one. But such is life you just dust yourself off and keep it moving. There are so many changes that I want to make in my life. Though I know I need to change my mindset and not just because it is a new year. 

I am not making any New Years resolutions. The decisions I make are life decisions which can't simply be inspired by the turn of time. Things I have yet to conquer are my weight and my writing. With my weight I just need to motivate myself to get up and go. As I know once I start it will be good. 

As for my writing. It is quite sad when people who have known you from back in the day ask how is your writing going. Only to turn around and say umm not much happening. Even harder is when they say  but why your xyz good etc. Thankfully God has blessed me with a fabulous cousin who is an aspiring writer. She really encourages me to get back in the habit and gives me loads of positivity. Also I do know a published writer who encouraged to me to keep at my blog just to get me back in the habit of writing. 

I am very eager to get a job and see the back of any government institution. They make me feel worst than they ought to. I have a lot of people tell me that I should get a job I want to do instead of just work but I just want to write. So any job that pays the bills will do especially if it does not emotionally drain me. 

I wish you all the best in 2012 and hope and pray that your mind and spirit is renewed. So that this year will be different to last year.

This is a song I discovered after I bought the Wow Gospel Christmas compilation. It really sums up the true Christmas spirit for me. Even better my oldest son loves this song. I hope all your Christmas preparations are going well. Christmas is about the gift of giving but also the gift of life.

Trenance Chocolate Treats

I do find it amazing how at the start of any relationship things start off a bit rocky. A colleague at work and I used to knock heads a lot at the beginning. It turns out that we do have much in common and the differences are well just differences. Anyway, I have never been to Cornwall. I am told it's beautiful there and you can get authentic things such as cornish pasties and various other things. 

I had the pleasure to be given from my workmate a selection of Trenance Chocolate all the way from Cornwall. She was so thoughtful to get the boys chocolate lollipops with the cartoon faces.The remainder two bars was for me to share with hubby. He does not eat treats that often so  I decided I would enjoy them myself. Yummy they are gorgeous. Not too heavy and just smooth. The white chocolate was amazing. I might visit Cornwall one day just to get more.

Just wishing you all a wonderful and blessed 2011. My Pastor said we should not be weary of the storms that we may encounter,  as at the other side is victory and God will get you through them all. So I pray that you have a wonderful year ahead and that any obstacle is overcome swiftly. 

It is now an official countdown to my birthday but, I only intend to go out for a meal and chill.

Happy Easter

I hope you all have enjoyed the Easter weekend. For some it is about chocolate eggs, baskets and bunnies. Whilst for others it is about a prophecy fulfilled. Jesus is alive and undefeated. Bless him.

Now I have to slowly dole out the boxes of Easter eggs my kids have. So far they have four each. I was not really expecting anyone to buy them any so I bought them two only to find out other folk had bought them some.  I would love to be a creative mum and make stuff with the eggs. My last attempt at Rice Krispie cakes were a soft failure. They were not crunchy. 

So what will you be doing with left over Easter eggs?

Happy New Year 2010

I am looking forward to 2010 - Pray God showers down His blessings on all my friends and family and even the associates. Everyday is a new day a new start - don't give up on you. Jesus believes in you and you can make it happen!!!

I initially thought I would do a reflective post but not sure what to say. 2009 has been such a trying year. However having watched on YouTube a TD Jakes sermon on making it through I must say I am glad I did. I started this blog with no idea what to do. Then my friend Alexander Jackman encouraged me to get writing again. So I have used my blog to re-ignite my creativity. It works at times. I pray that my poetry side starts to spring back up. I used to write 3-5 poems a day. So its in me just need to release it all.

Even more so now that I am an avid fan of Twitter I have experienced more of the beautiful and vibrant blogosphere and I love it. Especially you beauty and fashion bloggers. I admire your determination. Also all bloggers who have ever shared the love and to those who follow and comment I am thankful.

Secret Santa @ work

At work we did a secret Santa. This is often fun as you just never know what you are going to get. Last year I got a luxury Radox bubble bath set. I still have it only because showers are the way to go.

This year at work those who wished to take part did and we got some laughs. My boss bought washing up liquid and gloves for one girl in the team luckily he included a bottle of Rose’. There were many bottles of wine and truffles about not forgetting doggy biscuits, shower gels and pampering products. To me the funniest gift was a box of chocolates for a lady who is on a diet and doing well on it. Not a lot of thought but I suppose people get what they get huh.

My gift was a bag full of chocolate covered vanilla fudge from Thornton's. I cannot complain after all Thornton's are kind of posh chocs. I also got a fancy Red Herring key ring. It could be sign that I need to keep my car keys separate from my house keys. Well that is what my cousins told me and I bet they would be impressed if the next time I am in London they see I have taken heed of their advice. Mmm will see.

Oh yeah I bought my co-worker the Sleek sunset palette. Our budegt was £5 and I figured it was perfect. Just as well it was well received. I just do not know how she worked out the fact I was her secret santa. Oh well.

As for Santa not sure if I can be bothered to stand up in line for hours on end for a stranger in a red suit saying ho ho ho ask my babies what they want for Christmas. My workmates think I should. The alternative my skinny husband (he has slight stomach now haha) will have to play dress up.

Calypso Carrot Oil

I used this on my weekend sun break in Ibiza. I was determined to get a lasting tan for a sista. It truly worked. I still get people commenting on how dark I have gone or simply say that I am glowing. Some of the ladies in the group tried it out and they loved it too until they started burning. They were fairer (European) complexion and literally bathed in the sun. I used a bit of shade and bit of direct sun.

Trust me, do not for one minute think because you are Black you cannot tan. You can just get the right product and still use some SPF. My knees and elbows suffer from hyper –pigmentation. For those spots I used SPF 15 and 30 but was a but late. If you have any tips on reducing dark knees please let me know. I just want them to be the same complexion and not 10 shades darker.

UK carnival season

I have missed a few carnivals this year. I used to make it to at least 5 across the UK each year. However priorities change. If I am able I will take the kids to Notting Hill, London Carnival’s children’s day. The only carnival in the UK that gets major coverage like mud fest music festivals is Notting Hill. There are many many Caribbean cultures spread throughout the UK. Many of those communities have their own carnivals. Including the small cities. Though if London is out of reach Leeds carnival is spread across the same days.

Today I went to Derby Carnival procession day. It was okay. It was something to do and helped to wear out the kids. Certain stewards (e.g. number 27), just need to work on their people skills. The police need people skills too. You do not start off rude and expect because you are wearing a yellow vest or badge you will be respected. A simple please or just general manners goes a long way. The costumes that me and my friends saw, were lovely. I pray I can go to Trinidad & Tobago for their carnival and have a week long party. That is something I would love indeed.If I had the time I would set up my own carnival troupe playing the best steel pan and soca vibes around. I would do my research.

Ibiza was amazing!!!

I am so happy that my friend invited me to come to Ibiza for her birthday. It turned out to be 3 peoples birthday celebrations. I had to wonder if I was over dressed as I had on my Roca Wear tracksuit that my husband bought me a few years ago that I do not really wear. Everyone else was in shorts and mini skirts.

Baggage collected and already feeling the heat, I was sweating buckets. Lets hope it has sweated some of this excess fat away. The sun’s hotness was so intense and fierce. Compared to JA that has a breeze (which I think is warm anyway) it was just hot hot hot. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. The vibes were nice on the island. Everyone was just so chilled out and just focused on having a good time.

Our first day was Saturday and we spent the day catching the sun at Kanya which is a bar and restaurant with a swimming pool and sun loungers. The food was nice there too. At Cafe Mambo we watched the sun set. Its one of the things I do not get to appreciate in the UK. Maybe I need to move to the coast. Bora Bora beach was so chilled out. I have seen many many women with their chest on display and no one blinking an eye lid. I was tempted but backside not quite brave enough for that.

The workers as I will call them really try to cater to your needs. Everyone wants you as a customer and always seemed to offer you free shots or champagne with your drinks and also many 2for1 offers. Drinks were still expensive. In club Eden a bottle of alco-pop WKD was 12 Euros!!! Yikes.

I am always apprehensive on going on holiday surrounded by British folk as you tend to get everything catered to British tastes and that bad behaviour is all over the place. But no Brits seem to behave themselves well on this beautiful Island. My only complaint is the currency. I hate Euros. The prices of everyday goods are so inflated and cost more than they do back home. Even duty free was slightly off limits. Besides a handbag and some sweets for workmates I had to say forget that.

I so want to go back and bring my boys. As I am told there are other parts of the island that cater to families. When I do I will do all inclusive. Though still explore the island.

I'm off for some weekend sun

Since MJ passed I have been in somewhat of a daze. I still pray to God and seek guidance from Jesus but you know what? His passing is just so shocking especially now that AEG have released some video clips of his rehearsals. He looked amazing for his age. I just wish people would do as he asked back in 1989 to Leave him alone. The music charts have a got a new lease of life as his fans bought out his back catalogue of music and now you have delays in getting some albums. True talent forever missed!!

Anyway I am off to Ibiza in the next few hours. Just for a long weekend break with the ladies to celebrate my long time friends 30th birthday. We are proper grown folk now ya know.

I hope take many pictures and will upload once I get back. I might as well make use of my Flickr and Fotki accounts.
