Blackberry Dreams revisited

In the midst of summer I spoke of my love for Blackberry phones after I left Nokia and headed in a new direction. I must admit though. I never upgraded to the Blackberry Curve 8520. I use T-Mobile and for some reason it has only just started showing up as an up and coming phone on their website. The store staff are just that. Luckily I never got the new curve which I had raved about to all my friends and any blackberry newbie. It does not have a camera flash. I am quite shocked by that. It just does not make sense for a modern day phone in 2009.

My addiction to reading about Blackberry’s has kept me visiting on a regular the Crackberry Website. They talk about all the various things you can do with your phone, list all blackberry devices and discusses in detail rumoured and up and coming phones. The new Storm and the new Bold both progressed from rumours and code names to actual releases.

So as I browsed the Crackberry forums I kept reading about the Bold 9700 or Onyx. Plus there was a UK thread with release info some claiming insider knowledge galore. So when RIM made it official I was very happy. I have spoken to T-Mobile and the nice worker said that it was on their books but no release dates yet. According to the forums it may be out on T-Mobile early to mid November. It is already available for pre-order on Vodafone. Though seriously if T-Mobile USA can have it available now why not in the UK surely you are the same global company. SMH

Looks like I will be getting my upgrade soon. Everyone around me has the Curve 9000 Curve 8520 and the Pearl. I already know that the maximum expandable memory the Bold 9700 will accept is 32gb, so its just a case of finding a good bargain on a micro sd card.

PS – If you have any tips for using the Blackberry, useful applications etc let me know.

Black History – Egypt from black to white

I have always heard about the history books being re written to make things more appeasing to certain ethnic groups. During the same time that Jesus was given blonde hair and blue eyes, Egypt was also given a bit of a skin bleach. I do want to look into this further. This video gives me a good starting point. Before anyone says things like this could never happen, remember L’Oreal often lighten Beyonce’s complexion and give her a nose job. Surely she is light enough.

Check out the video. Look at the facts and do your own research as my lecturer would always stress.

Queen Latifah

I heard that Queen Latifah was making a Hip Hop return but did not hear anymore. So while on on World Star Hip Hop, I come across this single called “ Fast Car” which features Missy Elliot. Its a lot different from her “give me 5 on the black hand side” days. She has truly grown as an artist. I might just have to get this album which is called “Persona”. Check out the video and tell me what you think.

X Factor 2009

X Factor 2009 is in full swing. Last week saw the live shows begin and unfortunately Kandy Rain were eliminated. I do feel Danni and Cheryl were part to blame. They slated them on some jealous level. You cannot tell someone off for wearing skimpy clothes when that is your day job. Yes they wanted to move away from the stripper history they had but as judges Cheryl and Danni should have concentrated on the singing.

I absolutely loved Alexandra Burkes performance. She looked amazing and you could tell that they polished her right up. The dress she wore was soooo short but she has the legs and managed it well. Flo-Rida showed up for the event too. Simon was truly impressed.

Cheryl Cole debuts her solo single the same day that Whitney Houston power house vocalist performs. So let’s see if Cheryl will be miming. I do feel miming should be banned on talent shows regardless of how established an act you are.

Walkers Jerk Chicken crisps

I could not think of anything else to name this post. I was in Sainsbury’s over the weekend and came across this limited edition Walkers crisp flavour – Jamaican Jerk Chicken. I am such an impulsive buyer that I bought 2 multi packs.

Mmmm, it certainly does not taste like the Jerk chicken I eat every few days or weeks or have eaten in Jamrock before. The ingredients state Jamaican Jerk seasoning, Thyme etc. I would say the Roast chicken crisps can taste salty so in comparison, the Jerk chicken crisps taste less salty. Definitely a different taste. But Walkers has left me wondering … whe di jerk deh? Nice try though.

Brow shaping

I bought this product called Eylure Eybrow shapers in Boots. When I first used it my eye brows has been waxed a fortnight before and had some strays that needed removing. It worked perfectly. I just cleaned my brows with either white rum (thats the Jamaican in me. Over proof white rum has so many uses) or clean and clear or something similar. I was so amazed.

So with fully grown brows and faced with a night out with my girls to celebrate Shezza’s 3.0 birthday I thought I would have a go at a complete reshape. These things are like a very strong  sellotape. You get 3 strips which contain 21 shapers for different parts of the brow. I almost messed up my brows. Thankfully my husband has his uses.

He shaped them using a brand new loose razor. He told me he rescued my brows. So I guess I will still try to do them myself but also seek a professional of some sort.

Do you think he did a good job? I am wearing in the pic about 3 different shades of Barry M dazzle dust,( unsure of colour) numbers and Sleek Mascara.

Sleek Pout Polish 2

You know what. I think I really like this product. So much so that I went and bought the other 2 colours. If I like something I tend to buy all colours. Imagine if I could buy MAC products every month. I would be able to rival some of my fave beauty bloggers.

Anywho. The other colours I bought are called Perfect Plum and Electro Peach. They smell so nice.

Black History Month UK

I am feeling a little out of the loop at the moment. I usually know what is coming on television and the various events that are coming on. Though thankfully I was on the NHS Direct website and they have a wonderful feature for Black History month in the UK.

The NHS live well Black History Month section gives a different twist on celebration of life. So as well as celebrating our worldwide spoken and unspoken history and presence , we should celebrate our health (something I need to do). To mark the occasion the NHS celebrate the life of 7 health heroes making positive changes to their lives and others.

Are you taking part in any of the celebrations? Have you come across any worthwhile articles? Please let me know.
