<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So what happens when you mix the HipHop classic and ode "Baby Got Back" with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra? This rendition was composed by Gabriel Prokofiev. Sir Mix-A-Lot invites some ladies on stage and wow they really go for the bum shaking full on. Aside from that these lovers of classic music that seamlessly merges with modern classics know every single word. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
People will call this art and great and fabulous. I just hope the same is said when this song is played within it original form too. It was nice and interesting to see this mix of musical madness.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Rapper Azealia Banks appeared on HOT 97 recently. The caption of the video says she goes off on TI and Iggy. However when you watch the video and listen to what she has to say, you realise that at 23 years old she already knows how this music business is working. She has an understanding of the media and how it frames "Black" culture away from the very people who produced it. I love the fact that in this interview she remained transparent and unafraid to speak up for what she believes in. Those who do not understand what she is saying will respond negatively. Whilst everyone else will be saying finally a person who is unafraid to say it how it is. Banks is definitely not an "angry" Black woman. She is a lady who is clued up on what happens to Black people, the culture, the music, the perceptions etc and is very passionate about it. A creative soul, who deserves to be heard.</div>

I recently attended the launch event for Diamond Dolls Beauty Salon in Derby. I tried to vlog a little but ended up taking pictures most of the time. The launch event was fun even though I did not win any prizes from the raffle. Prosecco, Shloer and cupcakes were on offer throughout the day. It was a nice turn out with many people taking advantage of the launch discounts.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Diamond Dolls Beauty is owned by Dee McIntosh. It started out as a home based salon catering to the various needs of customers. Dee qualified as a Beauty Therapist a few years ago and has never looked back. She quickly established herself as the go to person for amazing Nail art and designs. Her attention to detail shows in her work. This also lead to her gaining advanced hair qualifications allowing her to give clients a complete transformation.<br />
<br />
With the salon's new location, Dee is joined by Nathan who specialises in European haircare whilst Dee does both Afro and European hair. She also is a qualified Hi Brow technician. Diamond Dolls offers various Hair, Nails and Beauty treatments and is located in Derby. I look forward to seeing this business continue to grow.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've come across this video on my FB timeline. It shows an old lady about 83 years old on her way home after gathering fire wood so that she could cook some fritters. She has run out of gas electric and her home is in disrepair. When it rains the house gets wet inside as the roof collapsed and there are no funds to fix it. She is ill and so is her husband. St Matthew and his wife Natalia see her in the street and give her some money to assist. Mother Fagan says she knows it was God who sent them and thanks God for the help. Upon further discussion they learn her situation is in need of further help and he promises to provide some basic things for her. If you can help contact St Matthew for more information.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I took my boys to the Natural History Museum during the school half term. It was mainly to see the dinosaurs which I think is the main attraction. We did explore the other stuff on show. Outside was a few buskers one of which was dressed as Sherlock Holmes making bubbles. The randomness you only get in a big city which is my home town.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Take a look at my video montage below showing the buskers followed by a picture slideshow. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The African and Caribbean War Memorial was unveiled this week outside the Black Cultural Archives in Windrush Square, Brixton, South London. It is a long overdue commemoration to the war dead and veterans of the African and Caribbean countries who also laid down their lives for the good of the world.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Interestingly I accompanied my eldest son's class on a visit to a local church that also has a war memorial. This was preceded by an assembly where the kids discussed the war and spoke with veterans about the wars of the past and today. It just shows how many lives were affected by the wars of the past and still are today. During the assembly a teacher who was once part of the army made note of the contributions of men and women from the commonwealth and the colonies. </div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I bought myself some false nails to do at home. They are often called press on nails or full cover nails and do not require an acrylic or gel overlay. In the video I share both an acrylic kit and full cover press on nail kit. Very affordable and keeps me frugal. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
This year marks the 100th year anniversary of the two World Wars of the Western powers. Many soldiers from the commonwealth and the colonies, laid down their lives for the same cause out of respect for their ruling countries. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On November 11th, 2014 at Windrush Square near the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton, London there will be a commemorative silence at 11:11am followed by the unveiling of an African and Caribbean War Memorial honouring those who laid down their lives to help Britain's war effort.</div>

I decided that I needed some purple hair in my life. Purple is my favourite colour after all so why not. It is the perfect colour for autumn and winter season. I did love the red hair I wore in the summer but I definitely prefer this purple look. It tends to look more purple in the light or close up. So it is kind of like Purple grape or black grape but with more purple. There are close ups in the video below.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Myriam Sidibe is a driving force behind <a href="http://www.globalhandwashing.org/" target="_blank">Global Hand Washing Day</a>. She aims to reduce diseases in children by encouraging good hand washing practices with a basic bar of soap. For some soap is a luxury whereas others its just there and neglected. <div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
October has been Black history month in the UK since approximately 1987. In the earlier years it was simply individual councils acknowledging achievements by the Black community in the UK and abroad. It has grown over the years and continues today. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You can read up on Black history in the UK from the following websites</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Of course there are many many more resources out there and books too but these are a good place to start exploring the topic. You don't have to wait for specific time in the year to begin reading your history.</div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c1Mfx_bMkvM/VBys7bSPOgI/AAAAAAAABdI/QKVNt5p6X_s/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2BSheryl%2BUnderwood%2B.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c1Mfx_bMkvM/VBys7bSPOgI/AAAAAAAABdI/QKVNt5p6X_s/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2BSheryl%2BUnderwood%2B.png" height="158" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On The Talk, Sheryl Underwood revealed that she was in negotiations to join the Queens of Comedy tour to replace Mo'Nique who had went on to do the TV sitcom The Parkers. Upon dialling into a conference call early she over heard Sommore, Adele Givens and Laura Hayes talking about her. They discussed everything from her ability as a comedian to her appearance. As a result she declined the offer to join the tour. She never mentioned it to them nor did she allow it to impede her ability to work with some of the ladies in the future since that incident. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sheryl explains she was "bruised but not broken" by what they said. Look at where she is now. She chose not to let their words hinder her she simply moved on in forgiveness. Even more so she progressed and flourished in her career. Not going on that tour just may have been a blessing in disguise.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was so amazed listening to this. Normally I would put this on my <a href="http://www.faithandi.com/" target="_blank">Faith And I </a>blog but this message is so universal. You can choose to hold on to hurt and pain or you can move on. People are going to say what they want about you but you must not let them define you. Do not let anybody but God determine who you are and who you are to become. Watch the video below to get the full story.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Lupita has become well known for her journey in self love. She previously spoke about the negative thoughts she had towards her deep chocolate brown skin until she saw model Alek Wek strutting down the catwalk. In this brief video Lupita and Elmo discuss the benefits of having skin and express how much they love their skin. I applaud Sesame street for encouraging self love. Remember their "I love my hair song". I just love that more mainstream avenues are joining the campaign for loving ourselves as we are.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is a poem by Kevaughn Ellis about the society issues in Jamaica that pose great questions. It is definitely something that can be applied here in the UK too. Words are definitely powerful.</div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UE0-vFv0554/VAMihccD3FI/AAAAAAAABcY/9gpAF13y8Hg/s1600/aysha%2Bking%2B.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UE0-vFv0554/VAMihccD3FI/AAAAAAAABcY/9gpAF13y8Hg/s1600/aysha%2Bking%2B.jpg" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It has been on the news for the past few days that a young child was taken from hospital without the doctors consent. The news outlets were all notified and the parents were shown to be wanted on interpol the international police data base for criminals. The family have been found safe and well in Spain. They have released a video showing Ashya still receiving his feed through the machine. The video discusses the parents concern about the treatment their son received under NHS care and the alternative they asked for. The NHS are in the process of creating a centre that would enable such treatment but it will not be ready for a few years. The therapy is called <a href="http://scienceblog.cancerresearchuk.org/2013/09/16/proton-therapy-is-coming-to-the-uk-but-what-does-it-mean-for-patients/" target="_blank">Proton Beam Therapy</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Please watch the below video to hear what the parents have to say. After all we have heard the doctors and the police speak on numerous occasions. This case reminds me of a mum who went to court because the cancer treatment her son received was so severe it left worst for wear according to his mum. The dad won a court battle to continue with the treatment with backing from the medical world. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
From the video it seems the parents did their own research and found a treatment that would be beneficial for their son and require different doctors to treat him. The doctors did not like what they heard and threaten to get a court order to remove the parents parental rights. If that is the case that is a huge concern and a very worrying scene that could have unfolded. I am praying Ashya gets well and that they can raise the money for the specialist treatment that the NHS does not yet offer.<br />
<br />
The info box on Youtube asks that the whole video is watched in full so you can understand the parents perspective.</div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vNmNwpUyAuc/U_JTEqMmXPI/AAAAAAAABbo/yZ_9bO1SJO4/s1600/sky_logo.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vNmNwpUyAuc/U_JTEqMmXPI/AAAAAAAABbo/yZ_9bO1SJO4/s1600/sky_logo.jpeg" height="178" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In a press release today, Sky Broadcasting announced that it is setting a tangible target to ensure that at least 20% of all new original programming on its channels Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Sky Living and Sky Arts reflect the audiences that watch them. The aim is to ensure Black, Asian and other minorities are represented better on British TV. This move covers On screen portrayals, Production (including senior roles), Writing and Commissioning.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Stuart Murphy, Sky’s Director of Entertainment said: <i>“Sky is dedicated to making programmes that feel representative of every one of the millions of viewers that watch our content every day, whatever their colour. So we have tackled the issue with the same sense of ambition that we show in all other areas of our business, setting ourselves a set of tangible goals that will hold us to account. Our aim is to kick start a sea change in the on screen representation of ethnic minorities on British television. It’s an incredibly exciting time, and I am very proud that Sky is going to be at the forefront.”</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is good news to read about as for a very long time British TV has been very hostile towards true diversity and representation. This has lead to many talented people leaving England for amazing careers abroad. Others have shown off their talents through online webisodes such as Brothers With No Game, that have become very popular and pretty much welcomed. One of the things that got my attention is that they are not just covering the actors but those behind the cameras too. So hopefully that means we will never be subjected to another show like the ill fated show The Crouches or even the plethora of shows that contain so called minorities but do not have any of their input.</div>

Single braid extensions can set you back a minimum of £50 upwards. So I decided I would do what I had not done in years and and do my own braided extensions. I think they turned out alright. Anyway check out my video for more information. Oh yeah I know I have not got the best edges but I address that in the video. Stay Blessed x</div>

Mark Sebba the CEO of Net a Porter was given an epic send off after 11 years for retirement. The London staff enlisted choirs, artwork, samba dancers, drummers and more to wish him well. The celebrations were also simultaneously joined by the international offices in America and Asia. He must have been a very good boss that kept all staff happy enough to give him such an amazing send off. It pays to be the boss but it pays even more to be nice to others</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Today marks the 176 year anniversary of Emancipation Day in Jamaica. Slaves were freed and slavery ended on 1st August 1838. Slavery itself in the British colonies was ended four years earlier in 1834 but it was made official in Jamaica on Emancipation Day.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You can read the <a href="http://jis.gov.jm/governor-generals-message-emancipation-day-august-1-2014/" target="_blank">Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen's message here.</a> Where he discusses Jamaicans tasting freedom for the 1st time and the hopes they would have had for the future not just themselves but for the nation. He also reflects on the current state of Jamaica. Worth a read.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Let us reflect on those gone by who fought the battle to freedom and many who lost their lives along the way. </div>
