Lotto 'win' is unlucky for couple

A couple found a lottery ticket in the supermarket. Took it home and amazingly the numbers came up. £30k and had spent 15k of the winnings. The person who the ticket belonged to contacted the police and through the courts was given the remainder money. So now the couple who found the ticket have a criminal record.

Not sure if I agree with this. I would be hurt if my ticket went missing, but Camelot should have clear rule on lost tickets. After all you only get 180 days to make a claim. I doubt this will set any example because, in the current climate people are desperate to get rid of debt and live the good life.

What do you think? What would you do if you found the ticket and the numbers came up? Click the link below for more on this story.

Aww bless them, I bet they thought their luck was really in.
I don't do the lottery, so wouldn't even notice a stray ticket.
I wonder how the lady managed to prove it.

  2. To me, the couple didn't purchase the ticket, so it wasn't theirs. The person who actually purchased the ticket owned the ticket. The right thing was done. They should have turned the ticket over.

  3. very true. I can see both sides. I know I would be heart broken if my ticket went missing and was cashed by someone else.
