Getting healthy

How many time am I going to tell myself I need to get healthy. My main problem is my inactivity. Yes I have two hyper active young ones. However I need more than just jumping up and down to Musical Mechanics and Johnny and the Sprites. Not even Mickey Mouse clubhouse can do it for me.

So do I start counting points again since it truly worked. Or do I devise my own health initiative. Or do I count points until I break my unhealthy snack habit and then tweak it so that I just eat healthy for life.

One thing I did not understand was that people attend meetings long after they have hit target and they still count points. I want to reach target and not feel the need to count points. Just turn an unhealthy habit into a healthy habit.

I am finding this video from Kerisha25 on YouTube inspirational. She is about the same height as myself. Self determination is the key.

Also this video makes me want to go out and get a video camera. If I do that I might just start making YouTube videos. LOL.

Now I need healthy food choices but keep it as West Indian or tasty as possible. Tips, books and website suggestions please share.

Trying Times

Hi everyone

This is just a short entry as I have had such a crap week. It has been such a trying emotionally draining week. I guess is pushing me into a better place. I am not comfortable where I am and that is in all aspects of my life.

Good things this week. I was able to write for my friends magazine. I may get a regular slot but will see how that goes. Fingers crossed. I have perfected my eyeliner application using a flat angled brush.

I went severely overdrawn at the bank. I know for some £180 is nothing but it is a lot to me. Especially when you know what traps overdrafts can be. My bank charges £15 for the privilege of you using their money without permission and £20 per day that you remain overdrawn. So basically by the time you can pay back the bank you have nothing to live on. That is when they con you into those £12 per month accounts with xyz that you do not need.

Family life is tough. Fell out with the husband. I ain't apologising to him. I do not care. After all, how does asking a simple question turn into "you are trying to treat me like a kid". I beg, he must have some issues. Reminds me of my middle brother. He just could not take constructive criticism. You call yourself a man. Man up and grow up.

Because of all this atmosphere around me , I have become short tempered, on edge and really tense. I just need to feel loved right now. I just need a hug.

MOBOs the crowd was not pleased

I forced myself to stay up to watch the MOBO's. Mel B looked stunning. I was not sure about her hair style. It reminded me of a Strictly Come Dancing style. Did not like it too much. Rev Run was hosting the show alongside Mel.

The audience seemed to have summed up where the MOBOs are right now. Back when Destiny's Child had an original line up and strutting their stuff the audience were satisfied. Now however the show is known for the celebrity winning no shows. It is like the award is of no concern to them.

The audience was not impressed by Leona Lewis, Dizzie Rascal et al not showing up. Well at least Leona did a video message as did Chris Brown. Tim Westwood got booed and he was there. Shame. I am sure he tends to get booed a lot. However he does do a lot for the genre.

Estelle rocked the house whilst John Legend was on point. They sang alone and together. You can tell he truly believes in her talent. Craig David returned to his Garage Grime Bassline roots and took to the stage with Tinchy Strider and Rita Ora. That performance was brilliant. It is so nice to see the event organisers embracing the Black UK music scene and less emphasis on America's.

There was so much UK talent nominated this year. So well done to them. I also enjoyed Taio Cruz performance with the Sugarbabes. I would have loved to just seen him do his thing all by himself.

As for the people presenting awards.....Many needed lessons on professionalism. Westwood swore at the audience when they booed. Others became ghetto-ish. Be ghetto if you want to be. Just be professional about it.

Over all an okay show. At least they try. The Brits will never show any love to those MOBO's recognises. We still remember how they shamefully did not give Craig David one of the 7 awards he was nominated for.

Check out the MOBO website for a full list of winners

R.I.P. Daniel De Gale

I was watching MTV when this headline caught me off guard. I am in total shock that such a courageous young man has lost his life. For those who may not know who he is. Daniel was a young boy who was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 5.

With the support of his family he lead a huge campaign to encourage and get more African and Caribbean people in the UK to sign up to become bone marrow donors. Many celebrities joined his campaign to promote including Ian Wright and the Duchess of York. Many becoming Patrons of the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust which was formed out of the quest to find not just Daniel a donor but to get more people registered.

After a successful bone marrow transplant from an American donor Daniel was able to live go on and live a normal life. The charitable work continues and to this day ethnic minorities are being made aware and encouraged to get on the register.]

His mum said

"We are very grateful for all the love, support, kindness, generosity, dedications and concern that you all have shown for our beautiful son.

"However, we ask that you please do not send us any flowers but instead continue to support the charity as this is what Daniel would have wanted, so that we can keep helping to give others the gift of life."(source)

The Duchess of York said

We must remember him by helping the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust carry on their invaluable work.(source)

I am actually feeling quite emotional because I thought he had made it through this. I so need to go and get on that register myself and I urge you to do so too. No matter what race you are!

I leave you with encouraging words from ACLT

People of African, African American, African Caribbean, and Mixed Parentage descent between the ages of 18-43 have to face up to the fact… WE are the only one’s who can be potential donors for Black sufferers who require a life saving Bone Marrow match. BUT HOW MANY OF US HAVE ACTUALLY REGISTERED?

Support ACLT if you can. The revamped website is full of information and definitley worth a browse

Rest In Peace Daniel De Gale (14 March 1987 -8 October 2008) .......may your legacy and hard work live on.

Back online yay

I have been gone for over a week I estimate. Well one day my brother came by and I was downloading paid for stuff and demo's only for my laptop to crash and never reboot. It just kept rebooting and would not get back to desktop.

My friends dad is such a kind man had a look at it and when he couldn't do no more asked his brother. He is one of those people that knows how to fix computers and basically he ended up stripping the whole thing down. The problem turned out to be that one of the memory sticks had died. At one point I was thinking I need to get me a desktop PC.

Saw a beautiful HP desktop in Comet for £450. I only had £200 and was this close to financing the rest in this ridiculous financial environment we are in. But hey God is good and I didn't do that I just said will think on it. But soooo happy my Laptop is fixed. It is running on half the memory it had but as it is XP and not Vista I can get away with it.

In brief I have been back at work. So weird seeing all the new faces and figuring out where all my work buddies are. So much to catch up on. Some I speak to outside of work anyway. Been in training on new products and a new department with hours to suit me and my childcare arrangements. I also have loads of holiday entitlement which I am going to book ASAP.

So far I have managed to get my make-up on each morning before work. I save time by not using foundation or powder. At present I can get away with that. Though if I could find a foundation or powder that offers sheer or light cover I would be so happy.

So exhausted and will be spending the next week gathering all my bookmarks again.
