Virgin Media Broadband is doing my head in

No seriously they really are. I have been having connection problems for months but just ignored it till now. It is like I just cannot get online consistently. I called technical support. Was taking through the usual fix that I did how many times already. Basically you switch off the modem, switch it back on and its supposed to solve the issues. It does not work. So then the overseas call centre operator tells me ‘oh that is quite bad ‘ you need an engineer. Then by way of a miracle it starts working before the engineer comes by. Then it stops working again. So after telling them I am leaving they are like oh we have this broadband specialist that works miracles etc. We will see. As much I really do not want to leave I think I might just have to.

Unless I can haggle down the cost. But this beyond a joke.

Update(29/4/09): Virgin Media's chief executive office contacted me with a solution. They found me and called and for that I do thank them for taking the time. Now we will wait and see what happens. Fingers crossed !!!! The funniest thing is that I was actually considering writing to them and they beat me to it.

Swine Flue wtf?

When I heard the news about this over the weekend I had to wonder. How long before people passed away did the world health organisation know about this. Now the only news is about this influenza virus that has jumped from pigs to humans. Talk about cross contamination. It makes me wonder what is it about modern day farming practices that causes so many animal deceases to reach out and attack a human. After all there is mad cow disease of which the human variant is CJD, then you had bird flu and so many others.

According to Live Science 50 million humans caught diseases from animals including domestic pets. Some of which were fatal. Interesting, but so weird. Could Flu be one of the curses of the world as spoken about in the Bible or am I just taking it too far. I pray for all those already affected and that it does not become a pandemic.

Here is a list of symptoms

- Cough
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Aching muscles and joints
- Runny nose
- Severe weakness and fatigue

Read more Yahoo news article and this article about animal to human diseases known as Zoonoses, you will be amazed to know some of the common ones came from animals.

My version of her body

I so would love to have my very own version of Serena Williams’ body. Just so well toned and looking good. I wouldn’t want to be as muscular though. When I say this to my some of my European friends they look at me like I am crazy. They say but she is way too big. Which baffles me because her body helps tabloids sell and some blogs get a good read.

But yes Serena I would love to have my own version of your body. After all healthy curves is the way to go!!!

Lotto 'win' is unlucky for couple

A couple found a lottery ticket in the supermarket. Took it home and amazingly the numbers came up. £30k and had spent 15k of the winnings. The person who the ticket belonged to contacted the police and through the courts was given the remainder money. So now the couple who found the ticket have a criminal record.

Not sure if I agree with this. I would be hurt if my ticket went missing, but Camelot should have clear rule on lost tickets. After all you only get 180 days to make a claim. I doubt this will set any example because, in the current climate people are desperate to get rid of debt and live the good life.

What do you think? What would you do if you found the ticket and the numbers came up? Click the link below for more on this story.

Time to care for my nails

I used to wear nail polish everyday and I do not know why I am slacking. My personal grooming is not like what it used to be for nails that is. I am a constant recovering nail biting addict. I do not bit my nails like when I was little girl. Though I do pick at them on occasion. I recently bought a cute nail file that has its own pink carry case that I now carry in my bag.

I have seen some beautiful nail colours on blogs and videos. Clumps of Mascara always talks about and shows pics of beautiful nail colours. So much so that I dug out my nail polish collection. When I was all about my nails I easily had about 30 different colours of purple. One of my favourite colours. I am happy to try any shade at the moment. I love the look of French manicures too. Black tips with bits of gold or silver always look nice. My new French manicure kit is by L’Oreal and comes with an angled brush to make applying the white tips easy. I tried it and its ok. Though I guess I may need more practice with it.

I am contemplating whether or not to spend £28 on a full set of acrylics or try do it myself. Or simply just shape and polish my own nails myself. YouTuber Goldenchild789 did a video on doing your own acrylics.

Her nails look lovely and I was thinking mmm I wonder if I could do that myself. Then when I went into boots I came across the Kiss Lightening Speed Acrylic Nail Kit. So I am not sure if I should go and buy a salon pro kit or get this starter kit and if it works voila credit crunch nails that look adorable. Undecided but I get my wages soon and I might just treat myself to the Kiss kit or a nail art set or something!!

Getting Fit, I guess health will follow

I want to get fit. I spoke months ago about getting healthy but I have yet to master that plan. I have seen my weight increase but now that I am conscious of it, it has started to go down but not much yet. I am surrounded by people who do not believe me. That is fine. They do not have to. I must believe in myself and make that commitment to myself. So this week I began introducing 30 minute exercises to my week. I did Mr Motivators DVD BLT. It is soca aerobics and is split in sections so you can tailor it to suit you. I did not feel like doing everything so I did the Soca parts whilst my two sons thought I was just ramping. I managed it and felt it too.

I have other DVD’s too. Billy Blanks Tae Bo 2( I also have 2 VHS’). My most recent purchase was the Pilates weight loss for Dummies DVD. I have always wanted to try it out. I will need to take my time with it. Luckily the DVD gives you advanced and beginners to work from. Not forgetting the 10 minute workout by Erin on YouTube that I spoke of recently. I am considering buying Mel B’s DVD Totally Fit. It has got some really good reviews. In fact I think I will buy it.

As well as my DVD’s I also have a Reebok Yoga set ( it is just a matt and foam block and VHS), Reebok Aerobic Step, which I bought after watching various diet shows including X-Weighted where a fitness test consists of stepping up and down as many times as you can in one minute. Thought hey step aerobics. I also have Carl Lewis Cross Trainer and mini work out kit that consists of a thigh master trainer, skipping ropes, 2 light weights and these hand things that you hold and squeeze in your hand and fight the resistance. Not sure what that is supposed to achieve but it came in the kit.

So I have a lot of resources at home. I will be using these over the coming days and weeks until I am set in a routine. Any tips for using what I have. Please leave me a comment and do let me know any fitness or health sites worth checking out.

17 Infinite Lash Defining Mascara

I do not know what I would do if boots became a victim to the credit crunch / recession like Woolworths. I have a Boots Advantage Card, which is their reward card. For every £1 spent you get 4 points. I try my best to keep those points adding up. Last year I managed to save enough points to get a digital camera worth £99.99 absolutely free. Thank you Boots.

Anyway Boots sends it’s members bonus point tickets and offers all the time. This time was the offer of buying a Mascara worth about £5 (have seen a few different prices) for just £1. The first boots I went into they were sold out. Luckily the second Boots store had them in stock still.

The 17 Infinite Lash Defining Mascara has one of those wands that is rather fine and not bushy. So it really does separate the lashes as you apply. I like the way it looks but compared to Maybelline the Colossal and Diorshow, it does not give loads of volume. I only used two coats so maybe to get that oomph I love I will try 3. The brush is easy to use which is a bonus. Just feeling my lashes now they do not feel clumpy like some can make them feel. If on a budget worth a buy. 17 is the younger and somewhat more vibrant sister to Boots No7 Cosmetics brand. It may grow on me.

Have you tried it? Is there a brand of Mascara that you absolutely love no matter what the cost?
